Just a quick new year greeting – be joyful – be creative – be you!

~collage fun to kick off the new year~

My first found object art piece…on a  past treasure hunt I had acquired the old oval frame and handless clock piece. I stashed them in my craft closet and waited for the right moment. Recently we made fusion paper

in our “Mixed Media Collabrative” monthly group meeting – when I brought theses papers home the wheels began to turn and I started pulling things out and playing. The rose was a thrift store find, the metal butterfly pin from a  museum gift shop and the dried flowers from my mother-in-laws house. This piece really evolved and I have to say I may not be the fastest at producing my art but I am happy with the outcome! I wanted to journal on it but held back (which is typical for me!) but I felt like the piece draws you in and you can form your own thoughts as you look at it rather than me directing you to a specific phrase…hope you will be inspired to give it your own title!

At our last monthly meeting, our mixed media colabrative experimented with making fusion paper. I first panted a muslin fabric with water colors then began layering other fabric bits, book paper, napkins and printed tissue paper with a glue/water mix. I made a large sheet and then cut it down into these card size pieces to wish a few friends a Happy Spring!

PS – couldnt resist adding a few embelishments too.:)

 two more.

A recent meeting of our “Mixed Media Collabrative” art group set in motion this recent project.

I used or should say upcycled some old tags I had saved and began arranging  then prepard a background of strips of security envelopes which I used some tints to bring color into the project.

Next I used stencils ink, sprays and gesso to create back grounds on the tags, then I applied some design elements with stamps and hand journaling to bring it all together.

Voila – my first piece of the new year!

Enjoy the Journey!
